What to expect in a class

Children run, balance, throw, catch, kick, listen, take turns and learn through structured, imaginative activities. Coaches guide the group while responding to individual differences.

Classes follow a clear, familiar structure, so children know what to expect, feel comfortable from week to week and can focus on having a go.

Ages and stages

Every child develops at their own pace. Five progressive Playball stages help match activities to the child’s age and emerging skills.

Younger children focus on balance, coordination and joining in with a group, while older children start using their skills in games across several sports.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and the right Playball team will get back to you.

What age is Playball for, and how are groups organised?

Playball is designed for ages 2–8. Children are generally grouped with others of a similar age; coaches adapt activities to different levels of competence.

What will my child do in a class?

Children run, jump, balance, throw, catch and kick through purposeful games. Activities also support listening, turn-taking, communication and confidence.

Can my child try a class?

Participating community programs may offer a complimentary trial lesson so children can experience the group and the coach can assess the best class fit. Ask your local Area Manager about availability.

Who are the coaches?

Playball coaches are trained in the Playball approach, including child-first and inclusive participation. Your local team can explain coach checks and qualifications.

Can I stay and watch?

Parents are welcome to discuss observing a class. Younger children may benefit from a parent staying close or participating; older children often become more independent.

What if my child is shy or needs extra support?

A child is invited, not forced, to join in. Let your local Area Manager know about individual requirements so the team can consider suitable adjustments.

How much does it cost?

Each Playball area is independently operated. Class prices, registration and payment methods vary; your local Area Manager can provide details.

What if a class is missed or cancelled?

Make-up arrangements and credits depend on the local program and its terms. Please discuss your situation directly with the local team.

What should my child wear or bring?

Comfortable clothing, enclosed trainers and a named water bottle are recommended. Arrive a few minutes early and share relevant information about your child.
